One person, needs to be Resident locally for 2 years, if neither are a Spanish citizen
So foreigners & non residents often choose a civil marriage at home. Then hold a Wedding Style celebration here in Spain.
An official translation of their (UK) marriage certificate can be used, where officially needed, by non residents living in Spain

Confirming not married in home country/no other impediment to the marriage. (can take over 21 (working) days to arrange - If Married Before
Previous marriage certificate divorce certificate or spouse’s death certificate. Stamped with a Hague Apostille and legally translated into Spanish
